Read the Tea Leaves

Holiday Edition

We are kicking off the first Friday of November with a Fun Friday Bonfire. Indeed it is that time of year again when the weather is perfect to get cozy around the campfire– enjoying good friends, good food, good conversation, and any of our heartwarming hot teas. The option is available again this year to reserve the fire pit during business hours and host your own private time with your friends and family around the fire. We will provide the wood, have the fire going & the s’mores for $35.00, up to a party of 6. Speaking of bonfires, that brings to mind one of our house favorite teas, Lapsang Souchong. This is a pine-smoked black tea with a strong aroma of fire, yet with a smooth taste that can be enjoyed with a splash of milk.

Another popular drink this time of year is our tea-infused cider. This delicious blend of fall and holiday flavors is easy to make and is a party pleaser. This Fall, we infused it with Spiced Apple Pumpkin tea. However, in the past we have used hibiscus flower, our Blood Orange tea, Cranberry Apple, and Cinnamon Pear all with the same great result. You can also add spiced rum at home for a great adult drink to serve guests. Following is the recipe:

Tea Infused Hot Cider

½ gallon of cider

⅓ cup of loose leaf tea

⅓ cup of brown sugar

3-5 tablespoons of Mulling Spices.

Brew in a large percolator coffee pot or boil on the stove and strain.

Add fresh oranges or lemons and cranberries for garnish.

In addition to holiday tea drinks, you can make going home fun and delicious when you pre-order one of Sue’s:

Full Bundt Cakes or Quiches to take home

Full Quiche $32

Full Bundt cake $32 and a free ounce of tea

Must order 24 hours in advance

It is also the time to think about where you are holding your office party, “friendsgiving”, or family get together.

We have the perfect cozy space for you. The Copper Kettle Cottage is our 2nd location on 202 West Myrtle Ave. This welcoming cottage is in Foley’s Historic District and within walking distance of several antique stores, art boutiques and parks. The cottage seats up to 40 people and has easy handicapped accommodations as well as one smaller private room for small groups of 4-6 people. November Afternoon Tea’s theme is all about Fall, friends and family. When the colors change and the air cools, celebrate with our Autumn Afternoon Tea. Sit down to a plethora of the most wonderful fall tastes and smells with those you care about.

A Christmas Carol

December is that time of the year when we of course go all out for our guests. This will be our 7th annual Charles Dickens Tea on December 11th and we look forward to it every year. It has become a tradition for many families. With a full afternoon of Holiday inspired teas, lots of Dickens characters and entertainment, the event is sure to be a memorable treat for all. We will be honored this year with Christmas music from Foley’s High School Trombone Choir and the enchanting violin of Melody Duncan. This is a limited seating event on Saturday. Please call and make your reservation.

Can’t make Dec 11th? No worries, we are serving Christmas Tea all month with reservations.

Winter Vendor Day:

Wednesday, December 15th will be our next Vendor Day (weather permitting) filled with creative crafts and goods from local artists and vendors. Stop in during your lunch time for a little holiday shopping and check out the goods of several locals to support your community. Vendor days are always a great way to take home something unique or handmade all while grabbing a healthy lunch. 11-2 PM
