Tea trips and other wanderings…
Everyone can use some down time and we are very grateful for this time every year with our family. While family vacations are filled with fun plans and activities, it is also important to make time for daydreams and inspiration. I always manage to come back from a vacation a little bit energized by getting to experience some of the passion and grit of other small businesses. It has been a challenging year for all of us everywhere, which prompted our staff to examine our mission, product, and service to decide if it’s still feasible to continue. After this chance to reflect we have found that it is not only still feasible, but it also fulfills needs we see in our community.
What exactly makes it important?
That answer has surprised even us at times, but here is what we have learned from you. Customers are looking to be won over by tea (most tea served on the market is, sadly, at best, a shadow of what it is meant to be). Some customers are looking for exceptional taste and creative blends while other guests just want some really fun options like color changing, boba, and even carbonation. Some are looking for diverse plant-based options featuring a variety of health benefits, or for ethically sourced organic tea. Some of our customers are after small batch rare teas…
OK, I might be one of the few looking for rare tea. But we’re hoping to get our customers excited about that as well! Tea has a diversity of taste, origins, value, and romance. A product that is not just trendy but carries the weight of time… a proven history of being consistently one of the most commonly enjoyed beverages around the world.
We found our guests were also looking for a tea experience. It might be just a moment with a pot of tea under the oaks, a conversation over scones, a chance to sip tea from ancient trees, or the memorable treat of afternoon tea with friends and family. At the Copper Kettle we have worked very hard to win you over– from the most reluctant tea drinker to those with more sophisticated palates. We take our tea very seriously.
However, if tea is to be taken seriously, we try not to take ourselves too seriously. At any time you might come in to find a dragon, a fairy or a hobbit as your server. We offer as many ways to serve you tea as you can think of, from the Mad Hatter to Harry Potter themed parties. You can also enjoy the arts, crafts, and writings contributed by locals who often come to tap into the highly creative environment.
But you don’t have to be an artist to enjoy the ambience, we encourage all our guests to have fun, share their joys, their trials and their talents. In fact, it has been so embraced that I believe The Copper Kettle is more your tea room then ours. We are literally held together by your stories, support, and talents. The journey has been humbling, we have said hello and goodbye, we have cried and laughed together, worried, wondered and prayed all with a pot of tea always present…
As we journey back to the “Hobbit House” this Fall we look forward to sharing in more of those important moments in your lives. The journey is hardly over and the calendar already is booked with opportunities for family fun in the 100 Acre Woods, fireside teas will once again be available, and with the additional Cottage space you can easily book your private holiday get-togethers.
We would like to thank you all for your graciousness and patience while we had our little summer vacation and finished up the little upgrades and renovations on the original building. Stop by for lunch or a sweet treat to accompany your tea or get in touch to plan your perfect tea party.
